For Democrats, Gender Isn't the Only Thing That's Fluid, Their Principles Are, Too

I am imploring someone, anyone, to explain to me why Democrats have gone all-in on gender identity and transgender activism. I'm a fairly intelligent woman, and there was a time I used to be a Leftist. But I cannot for the life of me figure out why an issue on which the electorate is split so unevenly is the hill the Democratic Party has chosen to die on.

Bill Maher himself said Democrats won't win elections until they take a more moderate position on transgender issues, but it doesn't seem that shift will be coming any time soon.

If anything, the Left is getting more entrenched, more insane, and more out-of-touch on the issue.

WATCH:

We'll start with how scientifically ignorant this is. The thalamocortical complex, part of the brain that controls consciousness, doesn't develop until the 24th to 28th week of pregnancy. Even then, a child -- born and unborn -- doesn't develop a sense of self-awareness until somewhere between 15 and 18 months old.

By age four, most children have a stable sense of gender identity, provided they're not raised by lunatic Leftists or attending public schools.

You would think the so-called 'Party of Science' would understand the basics of fetal and childhood development.

Then again, up until five seconds ago, Democrats also argued an unborn child is nothing more than a clump of cells that can be aborted at any time during pregnancy, for any reason.

Make it make sense.

If there's one thing the Left is good at, it's being very much in favor of a certain position right up until that position is no longer politically expedient for them.

That's why they can argue with a straight face that a fetus is not a human being until it enters the magical vaginal canal during birth. Until they need a fetus to be aware of his gender identity around 12 weeks of pregnancy.

You'll be not shocked to learn Rep. Karen McCormick is also ardently pro-abortion. She's co-sponsored Colorado Assembly bills SB25-129 and SB25-130, both of which would 'strengthen protections for reproductive healthcare.'

Surely, those two bills would prohibit abortion after the start of the second trimester, right?

If a fetus is aware of his gender identity during the second trimester, the stalwart defenders of trans people and trans rights wouldn't want to risk aborting an innocent trans baby, would they?

You'd be wrong. There are no restrictions on abortion in either bill.

And if it wasn't enough, McCormick also sponsored a bill, HB25-1109, that would 'affirm transgender rights' even after death.

Here's what NBC 9 News has to say:

A new bill aimed at affirming transgender rights, even in death, will be discussed by lawmakers on Tuesday.

The proposed legislation would require those completing death certificates to record the deceased's preferred identity. Failure to comply could result in a class 2 misdemeanor charge.

Democratic State Representative Karen McCormick, who introduced the bill, emphasized the importance of respecting individuals’ identities even after they have passed.

'It really matters just for the dignity of these individuals, affirming identity in death,” McCormick said. “They deserve the respect and it's important that we honor them here in our state.'

So the dignity of trans individuals matters in death, but not in the womb. Because in the Left's game of intersectionality, transgender fetuses lose out to Moloch, I guess.

I'm not the one arguing fetuses develop gender identity in the second trimester. Rep. McCormick is.

It'd be nice if her positions weren't quite so gender-fluid.
