One thing we have noticed in recent years is that when a new movie is coming out, they often set both a review embargo date and a social media reaction embargo date. That is, they often give critics a chance to see the relevant movie early, but tell them they can’t release the review until a certain date, and also they can’t post a reaction on social media until a different date, always before the review embargo is lifted.
This pattern is being followed with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is the last Guardians movie, though I am willing to bet that many of the characters will turn up in other Marvel movies and so on. On the other hand, James Gunn, the director, has basically become co-head of D.C. movie universe so he is not likely to be back for a long time.
In any case, the movie is coming out on May 5. The review embargo lifts on Friday, April 28, while the social media embargo lifted over the weekend. That is an encouraging sign because if a movie is bad, and the studio knows it is bad, they often embargo all criticism until the day the movie is released.
