No threat of a Pacific-wide tsunami is believed to exist after a 7.1 earthquake was reported near the coast of Central Chile Sunday afternoon.
The quake was reported at 12:37 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time about 20 miles north by northwest of the town of Talca, Chile between Santiago and Concepcion.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says that based on their available data that no threat of a tsunami exists from the earthquake.
There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries in Chile.
