 A Carpentersville man is being held on $3 million bond on multiple heinous crimes – including beating a woman with a hammer, raping an 8-year-old girl, and stabbing a dog.

Inside, police say, Happ had hit the woman repeatedly in the head with a hammer, sexually assaulted the woman’s 8-year-old daughter, and stabbed their dog. While sexually assaulting the girl, police said, he threatened to use the hammer on her too.

Police found the woman and the girl inside. The woman was unconscious.

The family dog was found with stab wounds, but survived. The dog was being treated by an area veterinarian, Bosshart said.
