Just a week after Democratic Governor Pat Quinn of Illinois gave his State of the State address in which he announced massive cuts throughout the system due to the state being broke, the governor and other lawmakers have given themselves a pay raise.
Though salaries were frozen last year, the same measure is not being proposed this year. The governor is allowing for himself and many elected officials and other leaders in the state to receive their adjustments in salaries for the standards of living.
For high-paid government officials in Illinois, the raises are substantial considering these economic times.
