This week, the Republican Platform Committee is debating this year’s party platform and have turned down one major proposed amendment.

The proposed change would have officially allowed the GOP to hold a neutral view on same sex marriage.

It would have acknowledged that there are “diverse and sincerely held views” in the Republican Party and welcomed “a thoughtful conversation.”

The amendment was proposed by Rachel Hoff, an openly gay DC Republican delegate.
