Is it the worst case of Twitter identity theft ever? On Tuesday, some Twitter users found that their avatars had been swiped and replaced with the all-too-common anonymous egg avatars that everyone begins with.

Twitter acknowledged the problem:

Fortunately, as you can see, most of these folks have already gotten their avatars back. According to Twitter, the rest of these poor wretched souls should be able to restore their avis now.
