More from the Texas Tribune:
Matthew Dowd, an Austin-based television news commentator and former George W. Bush strategist, is mulling an independent challenge to U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.
“I am giving it some thought. I haven’t made a decision,” he told The Texas Tribune. “I don’t know what I will do. But I am giving it some thought, and I appreciate the interest of folks.”
Dowd said this has been a draft effort, as prominent members of both parties have approached him to run against Cruz.
Dowd, for those of you who aren’t already familiar with him, is ABC News’ chief political analyst who recently raised eyebrows with his weird patriotic litmus test. And now he wants to be a senator.

Eh, it’s not as if Dowd has anything better to do.
