Noting Japan’s “professional brilliance and technological power” on Pearl Harbor Day? Maybe not the most tactful approach. And unfortunately for him, it essentially drowned out his earlier valid observation about the constant and often unpredictable threats we face in today’s world.

A lot of people were left scratching their heads over that one.
