GOP presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina has failed to meet the criteria to participate in this Saturday’s debate, but former POTUS nominee Mitt Romney doesn’t think she should be excluded:

He’s not alone:

But others disagree:

What do you think?

  • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

    She’s still running? 😉

    • Doc Farmer✔ᶜᵒᵛᶠᵉᶠᵉ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Yeah. I kinda like her, but she’s just not gaining traction.

      • Kawfy

I like her too…if she would just soften around the edges, more people would give her a shot and realize she is one smart cookie.

      • interestedobserver2

I’m with you on that. She would be a helluva lot better than certain other candidates who will be on that stage…

  • http://www.unpczone.com Chris Carter

We should only have the top 4 from here on out and the other 5 on 6pm.

    • Doc Farmer✔ᶜᵒᵛᶠᵉᶠᵉ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

At this point, why keep the undercard debate?

      • http://www.unpczone.com Chris Carter

It wouldn’t bother me if they did away with it, since maybe it would help the no-hopers make an easier decision. But if Christie and Kasich want to be humored, give them TV time earlier. But for the main stage there’s no excuse to have anybody but Cruz, Trump, Rubio and Carson only. Unless the next primary has them pulling over 10% in polls and Carson wasn’t.

      • AMD_Afficionado

I thought I heard that the undercard debate was done with?

        • tops116 ✓Quipper

ABC definitely. Later networks hosting debates might not have to make the choice since some campaigns’ll probably end after NH.

  • Doc Farmer✔ᶜᵒᵛᶠᵉᶠᵉ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Who told Mitt we wanted any advice from him? He lost. He admitted he didn’t have the “fire in the belly” but he went on and ran and lost.

Retire, Mitt, and let somebody who CAN win take the lead…

    • Fire and Adjust!

He DOES seem to be pushing harder for Carly to have a chance at being President than he did for himself doesn’t it?

    • tops116 ✓Quipper

I get so sick of these uppity people in America acting like they have free speech. Oh, wait, they do.

      • Gislef

Telling someone to retire isn’t a free speech impediment.

    • Xenomorphine

He’s not allowed to make posts on Twitter now? Yay censorship…

    • Jesse B. Hammer

…”Who told Mitt we wanted any advice” (about Carly)?
…Umm well, based on how the IndyCons ‘gasmed over Carly last week for having the MKDS to go all deranged at Megyn for calling a Rino (Santorum) a Rino (since Rick’s idea of pro-life is ‘pro-choice-until-the-birthing-starts’), I’d say that as usual it’s the IndyCons (NOT the GOPe [YAWn]) who encouraged Mitt to come out in support of Carly. Why is it so hard for IndyCons to “get it” that this is what happens when MKDS drive y’all to say that “Carly & Rick (and by extension Mitt) MUST be Reaganesque conservs #BecauseWeHateMegyn?
…Okay IndyCONs, okay…That’s all I have to say, so y’all can go back now to accusing the GOP of being the ones “off-message”.

  • http://www.almarquardt.com/ almarquardt

I’m surprised the detractors didn’t mention “binders full of women.”

If her numbers are greater than others allowed in the debate, then, yes, she should be there. If her numbers aren’t, then no.

    • Frustrated Teacher

I think the numbers they use for this are nationwide numbers….she did get more votes in Iowa than a couple of the others, but her nationwide numbers are lower on average….I THINK that is the reasoning.

      • VanceJ

Maybe so, I don’t know, but Carly is sharp, don’t know why she don’t get more traction. maybe press ignores her. because she is a conservative woman.

        • Tessa from Texas

          Bingo!

        • Christa Siobhan Cartwright

A conservative woman who will run rings around Hilary if she’s given a chance. The mainstream media is terrified of her.

        • Frustrated Teacher

I have to admit she comes across a bit shrill….but no more so than Trump. She knows her stuff but just isn’t a well recognized name over the country.

  • Lance H

Yes, let’s take the advice of a proven loser when it comes to presidential election contests.

  • Giuseppe Franco

I think Fiorina will have a cabinet position in a hypothetical Cruz or Rubio Administration.

    • journogal

      That would be good.

    • Ethanery

I really like how she deals with the media questions, so maybe press secretary is a viable option?

      • Giuseppe Franco

She definitely has the skills to be a good Press Secretary but, who knows, she may not want the high profile and daily headaches that come with that job.

  • LucienCordier

I want to see her on that stage ripping on Clinton. The rules have already been modified at times by various debate sponsors. I think she deserves to be there.

    • Gislef

Except some of the people who want her on stage say that the rules shouldn’t be modified.

  • Hamburger Hero

Put Carly on the stage (because she’s a woman) !

Only when it can work to your advantage, right Carly?

    • journogal

Yet, HRC goes around asking people to vote for her because she is a female.

      • Hamburger Hero

        That’s my point, genius.

If HRC is stupid enough to play that game, then why is Carly all of a sudden whining and trying to wiggle her way onstage because SHE is a woman?

        Hypocrite!

        • journogal

Is she doing the whining or is Mitt? Has she come out and said anything? All I see above, genius, are tweets from Mitt.

          • Hamburger Hero

She has been whining on the cable news channels, I assure you.

          • journogal

Do you have a link to it or are you assuming? You do know what assuming does, correct?

          • Hamburger Hero

Go on MSNBC website and you’ll see her there!

YES, she went on MSNBC…..and she did TWO shows!

          • journogal

So, no one saw it. Except you, who seems weirdly obsessed with her.

          • Hamburger Hero

Well, Carly was all excited about it…just stop now….you apparently like failures like Failurina since you do a great job yourself.

          • CrazyDaze✓veridicous

WOW, what a brilliant come back. It’s almost like you are a liberal or something equally slimy.

You certainly have a thing against women…

          • journogal

More than likely has a thing against Conservative women, but doesn’t have any issues with HRC.

          • tops116 ✓Quipper

Well, in that regard, he’s consistent. I recall him being supportive of Trump before Iowa and being irritated by stories critical of him. Hamburger Hero must really love liberals.

          • journogal

Why do you assume I like her? And what personally do you know about me? Come on…tell me, using credible proof that can be verified. Surely, someone like you isn’t lying.

            Tell me about myself.

Rich coming from someone who thinks Carly should be locked in a cabinet, calls her a failure and comments about her face (because Trump did.)

          • tops116 ✓Quipper

            “just stop now”

Take your own advice. I heard about what you’re talking about with MSNBC, but you consistently make yourself look incompetent and juvenile. Exhibit A: “you apparently like failures like Failurina since you do a great job yourself.”

          • VanceJ

Put a sock in it, your an idiot.

          • Gislef

And what did she say on those shows?

          • VanceJ

What genius ? all I see is a idiot. I haven’t seen Carly ask for anything except our vote.

    • Gislef

When did she say she should be put on stage because she’s a woman?

You might be confusing Mitt with Carly. Although I’m not sure how…

  • san rafael blue

Mitt, of all people, you should understand what ‘Meritocracy’ is all about. She just isn’t popular enough. I’m sure you remember how that feels, right Mitt?

  • http://wandererswaysite.wordpress.com Wanderer

What are these criteria of which they speak?

Personally I’d let her on just to get a few potshots at Her Inevitableness, she’s very good at that.

  • Hannah Abbott

I don’t know any conservative that cares what Mitt Romney says.. . .

  • D H

RCP (average) Poll shows her beating Carson and if he is on stage, she should be on stage

  • © Sponge

Is she in his binder?!?!?! WAR!!!!!!

  • AMD_Afficionado

Mitt, we already gave Snarly Carly an affirmative action place in a debate. She didn’t capitalize on it.

She’s already gotten one more shot than any of the other candidates did. 🙁

  • Achilles

Trump, Rubio, and Cruz are the only ones that should be on stage.

    • AMD_Afficionado

Is this debate #8? How much longer are we going to have more than 2-4 candidates? 🙁

      • tops116 ✓Quipper

After NH, most of these candidates will be gone.

  • AMD_Afficionado

Mitt’s comments during the 2016 cycle are really undermining the “Mitt was right” meme. So far, he’s batting below the Mendoza Line 🙁

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

Personally, I believe only the top three should be there. The others’ campaigns are going nowhere. Carly’s campaign is a mess. Carson’s is pretty much over. Kasich and Christie don’t have the resources to continue past NH; even a big win couldn’t save them. And Jeb? Well, he’s pathetic. (“Please clap.”)

That said, Romney has a point: Iowa didn’t do Carly any favors, but she fared better than two others who’ll be on the stage. Frankly, I’d be okay with Carly on the stage if it meant kicking Kasich and Christie to the curb. (Jeb, too.)

  • wrestlefan01

at the end of the day the only ones with a legit real shot of winning the whole thing are trump rubio and cruz.the rest should drop out and let them duke it out

  • VanceJ

Yes put her on, she makes more sense than most.

  • tbmbuzz

    Romney giving debate advice. Really?

    • hunter34

what would really be interesting would be a Carly/Hillary debate

      • Dan Cochran

        Here’s what would happen:
        1) Carly would wipe the floor with Hitlary
        2) The lame-stream media would still say Hitlary won.

      • tbmbuzz

*shrug* Both Cruz and Rubio can hold their own with Fiorina and both of them would fold, spindle and mutilate Hillary in a debate.

  • Dan Cochran

I would have no problem with Carly being included, but I wish the also-rans would think about standing down to let the real contenders duke it out.

    • Rick Lumus

      Today’s “also-ran”s are tomorrows “did they run?”s.

    • hunter34

Carly is as pretty sharp lady ,and keep in mind there is no perfect canidate
don,t pay attention to all the hype judge each canidate (sic) by the content of their charactor

      • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Judging candidates by the content of their character should have gotten Trump fired seconds after he announced.

  • Rogue Cheddar

    (opens binder)
Romney: I got plenty more where that came from!

    • Tessa from Texas

Thanks for the blast from the past. But I am still mad at the Dims who took that and made fun of him when it was perfectly clear what he was saying.

      • Rogue Cheddar

I don’t dislike Romney, I had him as a governor, but he was no conservative and definitely was weak on slapping the dems down like he should’ve. He didn’t have to stand tall, but you do have to stand.

  • tbmbuzz

OK, you Fiorina lickers: ABC as the debate sponsor gave all the candidates three criteria, ANY ONE of which they merely had to meet to qualify for the debate: finish in the top three in the Iowa caucuses, place in the top six in an average of New Hampshire polls, or land in the top six of national GOP polls. Fiorina met NONE of these standards. At this point, having even six candidates on the stage is too much, when half of them have less than half the support of any of the top three. Why has it become so hard in this country to meet even minimum standards of accountability without someone whining about ‘unfairness’? The liberal wussification of America permeates everywhere now, and many of us are royally sick of it. Fiorina, you LOST (not for the first time), deal with it.

    • tbmbuzz

      And Trump is next.

      • Tessa from Texas

        Pleeeezz!

    • Leo Trollsky

Do I have to lick her to support her? If so, based upon my donations to her candidacy, I’m owned a few licks.

  • LinTaylor ✓vitrified

“also why shld rules be changed to give preferential treatment to women?”

I dunno, go ask the people who think we should just hand the Presidency to Hillary without the formality of an election just because she’s a woman.

  • Leo Trollsky

I am a Carly fan, but certainly have no desire to lick her. She’s in my top 3 choices, between Cruz, Rubio and her. With Cruz always first.

That being said – rules is rules. ABC didn’t change the rules to keep her off the stage. Figures Mitt jumps in on the wrong side of the argument.

    • Paladin

I’m not a Carly fan either, but two things I think she does VERY well:
      1) She is superb in a debate.
      2) She focuses on the opposition, not the other Republican candidates.

      • Leo Trollsky

She’s very well spoken. She hits on a lot of what’s important to me. I have donated to her candidacy. But again, the rules weren’t change at the last minute to keep her off the stage. I do support removing Christie and/or Carson and replacing them with Carly. But it doesn’t work that way.

    • hunter34

considering all things I believe that Ted Cruz would be a good president
he truly has the strength of his convictions

  • Spinmamma

I agree with Carly. She made her excellent points clearly in the letter she wrote to the RNC , released yesterday. The “rules” made by the networks should not over-ride everything. Business as usual in the RNC.

  • Ariel Nonofbusines

VOTE FOR THE MOST HATED & Candidate most UNSUPPORTED BY MEDIA – THEN YOU MIGHT SEE CHANGE. THE MEDIA OWNERS OWN & CONTROL all major CORPORATIONS & THEY MAKE more $$ ON DOD via WARs Allowing such corporate influence (via media) to OWN & CONTROL all MAJOR TV MEDIA & to allow THEM to decide WHICH CANDIDATES GET HEARD OR SEEN iS 1000x WRONG. That Rep/Dems groups allow it – shows they too are corporate aligned. THIS INTERFERES WITH PEOPLES RIGHT TO LEARN ABOUT CANDIDATES. ITS BAD ENOUGH THAT MEDIA CONSTANTLY LIES & surely doesn’t help that our govt passed law within NDAA making lying by US govt – LEGAL. CITIZENS DON’T KNOW OR HEAR NEWS WORTHY TOPICS- PPL DiD NOT KNOW A LAW OF THIS NATURE WAS within NDAA. Citizens would have fought it when proposed in 2013 to nullify a 1948 Smith-Mundt Act that made GOVT lying illegal. Since they were lying to other locations, they needed to align what they told US citizens because the internet otherwise exposed it all. INSTEAD with lying now legal – WE ARE NOW INUNDATED WITH FAKE SHOOTINGS AND SIMILAR (ACTOR BASED NEWS EVENTS) AIMED AT INFLUENCING GUN CONTROL,& to CREATing fake RACE CONFLICTS to occupy attentions as a form of distraction. Its ALL LEGAL lying PAID FOR VIA OUR TAX $$$, Now you can get acting jobs with DHS as they film their next epic event. VOTE FOR THE MOST HATED & UNSUPPORTED BY MEDIA – THEN YOU MIGHT SEE CHANGE – An Unbiased media would have reminded citizens every day for the last 20 years how Clintons NAFTA $ GATT Trade deals are the reason we lost nearly > 200,000 factories w-15 million jobs that were relocated to overseas locations. When the corporations wrote their deal… don’t you think they were looking for their new factory sites – and that everyone knew the deal was bad for US Citizens?

      • Leo Trollsky

        I thought Dole.

  • Pareko

She should get the same exposure just like any of the other candidate, besides she has a lot of experience in politics as well as private. One can not get traction if one is not heard.

  • JD Son✓MyWizIzTheShiz

Really Mitt, we are ok as a whole if we don’t hear Fiorina’s shrill voice on the stage.

  • FastEddieTX

There are 8 spaces on the podium and 9 candidates. There is absolutely no reason for her to not be on that stage. I especially don’t want to give the left any ammunition for their ginned-up, phony “War on Women” BS. Give everyone a chance to be heard. It’s not like they can have a one-person “under card” debate…
