As Twitchy reported, a bitter Donald Trump is raising eyebrows with his tweets today, accusing Ted Cruz of stealing his Iowa Caucus victory through “fraud.” And, doggone it, he wants something done about it!

But it looks like he was only getting started:

More from BuzzFeed:

In an interview on Boston Herald Radio on Wednesday, Trump criticized the Cruz campaign for spreading a CNN report saying Ben Carson would not travel to New Hampshire and South Carolina after the Iowa caucuses, suggesting Carson was getting out of the race. Cruz apologized to Carson on Tuesday for his campaign not sending out updates that Carson was doing laundry and not dropping out.

“One of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen. They said he was quitting the race and to vote for him,” said Trump.

Asked if he would sue, Trump said, “I probably will; what he did is unthinkable. He said the man has left the race and he said it during the caucus. And then when the clarification was put out by Ben Carson saying it’s untrue, they got the statement and they didn’t put it out.”

Yesterday, many tweeters remarked on Trump’s calmer demeanor when he spoke in New Hampshire:

But that’s apparently gone out the window. Which is fine with some tweeters:

And now, well, he’s getting pummeled for his perceived petulance:

An even better question is whether they (and Ben Carson) will fall for Trump’s PanderTroll-act in defending Dr.-Carson even after Cruz & Carson “made up”. Just when we thought “pandering to one’s opponent” couldn’t get any worse than Bernie “sick-of-hearing-about-YOUR-damn-Emails”-suckup to Hillary at the first Dem-debate, now comes Trump pandering to Carson-supporters. HEY YOU Carson-supporters…Make sure to ask yourselves WHY Trump’s still running against the guy he “supports”.
…Anyhow, a Trumpanzee tweeted (as seen in a Twitchy-article yesterday) that a poll has DT leading by 28% in New Hampshire AND the tweeter will expect an apology from DT’s naysayers “when trump wins”. “Keep up this whiny BS”, I say to Trump, so’s maybe it’ll work out “better” for us him than it did in Iowa.

I thought the most ironic part of that was that if Trump was as awesome as he claims it wouldn’t matter how unfair they tried to be, he could just turn it around on them and win anyways and make the moderators look bad, but we all know that he really avoided it because he can’t actually handle any scrutiny or the facade of him being a republican will fail and we will see the real man behind the curtain, sadly for him we all got a front row view today.

Even in his speech he kept saying that his campaign people told him he didn’t have a chance in Iowa and not to bother going there but he went anyway. So to him coming in second was a win.

      • David Maggard

I will admit, during his speech, I really started to question my perception of him, he was calm, wasn’t insulting anyone, seemed like a somewhat reasonable person, but I guess there is a time delay fuse on his ego, or he was on some good tranquilizers, because it wasn’t too long before he was tweeting about our lack of appreciation for him self-funding his campaign and now he is in full-on terrible-two’s mode.

Uh…how is what Cruz did voter fraud? Just curious? Doesn’t sound like fraud to me. Cruz made assumptions based on the actions of Carson…and in reality they really weren’t out of line…you don’t go home to get a fresh change of clothes on the campaign trail.

      • David Maggard

Or have someone bring him some changes of clothes?

    • Isahiah62

maybe he saw it on CNN (they reported that Carson had dropped out)

Last night when our political team saw the CNN post saying Dr. Carson
was not carrying on to New Hampshire and South Carolina, our campaign
updated the grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news
      story. That’s fair game.

    • Lngtaltxn

Cruz didn’t actually say Carson was dropping out or suspending his campaign, they just relayed what CNN said that Carson was going to Fla and wouldn’t be in NH or NC but was instead going to the DC prayer breakfast.

    • David Maggard

Quite frankly Iowa is just the first leg of a marathon, if you need to go home for R&R and fresh clothes before the votes are even counted then you have no business being in the race.

True or false: Considering all the candidates running that actually had a chance of winning, the establishment pretty much didn’t care who won in Iowa, as long as it wasn’t Cruz. Answer that correctly and it goes a long way to validating your theory, or perhaps generating a different one.

I want to see at least three Ben Carson supporters who changed their vote based on this before I hear any more about this nonsense.

Fact is, as much as I like and respect Dr. Carson, it doesn’t matter one bit whether he dropped out before Iowa or drops out in a month, he’s not going to win. Voting for him is a wasted “protest” vote as much as voting for Santorum or Huckabee or Paul was. The absolute worst the Cruz team can be accused of is telling Carson’s backers what everyone else already knows.

This squabble only benefits the Democrats in the long run–Trump looks like a whiner and a few too many people will latch on to this “Ted Cruz is a fraud” nonsense.

Preacher Ted woke-up the Body of Christ in Iowa, then promptly used it to steal votes from an authentic Christian who doesn’t steal, lie and cheat, Ben Carson.

As I’ve been saying all along, the Rev. Ted is the political equivalent of a shyster televangelist who robs little old ladies of their Social Security checks, promising them riches and salvation in return, then makes off with the loot and buys himself a Rolls Royce. Just the most loathsome kind of character you can meet.

Ben Carson is the one who should file a lawsuit. Seriously, but he probably won’t, because he’s too inherently decent and forgiving.

This guy is so universally disliked its alarming. Whether you go back to his college roommate and peers calling him the biggest jerk they ever met, or you look at his present day relationships on Capital Hill, including two of the most conservative members of the Senate, Jeff Sessions and Mike Lee, both of whom have yet to endorse Ted Cruz despite the fact that they are ideological allies, its always the same, nobody seems to like Ted Cruz, and now we are seeing why.

why Cruz has so few allies, why so many people who actually work and socialize with Cruz don’t like him, and that goes all the way back to college? Do you actually know this as a fact. I don’t actually know, of course, but I suspect strongly that Trump does not have a single true friend. What he has is people who will appear with him and show up at his functions because he is a billionaire. And people who will answer a phone call from him on their private lines because he is a billionaire. Do you suppose there is a single person on this planet, when they need to talk to a friend, picks up the phone and calls Donald Trump?

Eva, you seem like a good and sincere woman, and being from Texas you are more familiar with Ted Cruz than me, so I would like to really pick your brain on this.

Why doesn’t Ted Cruz have more supporters from the ranks of his colleagues and peers, the people who know him best?

I’ve seen tweets from his old college peers and they universally despised him, and that seems to be the case with most of his adult colleagues and peers as well.

Doesn’t that say something about Ted Cruz?

I’m betting you get along great with people, or at least fairly well, doesn’t it trouble you that everyone who knows Ted Cruz dislikes Ted Cruz, or at best they are indifferent?

          • Eva_Galley

Did he say the same thing when he went to college, I’m not here to make any friends?

            Look, this isn’t junior high.
Carson’s people put out the message that Carson was WOULD NOT go to NH or SC. It was vague, which led CNN to signal that Carson could potentially be quitting.

As close as I can ascertain, the only thing the Cruz campaign did was echo something that was tweeted out by CNN before the caucuses started. If Trump is going to sue anybody (this week) CNN is complicit. I don’t think Trump is going to win any new supporters and probably lose some of what he already has over this asinine, juvenile rant.

  • Dobermite

Donald Trump is a political novice, so he doesn’t understand the rules of the game. He thinks politics is a fair game where the best man with the most persuasive arguments and the most supporters wins. Its a pretty naive view of politics, a lesson Mr. Trump just learned in Iowa.

In politics, particularly when you have an opponent who will say and do anything to win, like the Reverend Ted, you have to expect the unexpected. You have to think the way an arch criminal would think, or at least employ people who are capable of thinking on that level, then try to imagine the most sleazy and unethical thing the other campaign might do to steal votes, then act accordingly/preemptively.

When Ted Cruz, uh, excuse me, I mean the Reverend Ted, refused to even apologize for that vote-shaming scandal on the day before the Iowa caucus, but instead dug-in, defended the practice, and defiantly said we will do ANYTHING we have to do to get as many votes as we can get, that was a clear signal that they weren’t finished with the unethical behavior in Iowa, they were just getting started.

But thats okay, Mr. Trump, you live and learn and now you know what you are up against. Let him have Iowa. Although you are 100% correct on principle and I at least admire you for refusing to play by the ordinary GOP rules (i.e. just grin and bear it when your opponent steals the election), Iowa is not even worth contesting, its a small number of delegates and they never pick the eventual nominee anyway.

The important thing is, everyone can now see what the Rev. Ted is about, most people see he is like the sleazy charlatan masquerading as a preacher so as to rob little old ladies of their Social Security checks. Everyone realizes what went down in Iowa, between the vote-shaming and what they did to Ben Carson (a good man who would never pull a stunt like this, no matter how you feel about him politically), so I don’t anticipate his Preacher Ted act playing well outside of Iowa.

Just stay the course, Mr. Trump, YOU WILL be the nominee, with or without Iowa.

Brooke Baldwin said, “OK, just so we’re all crystal clear here, when Senator Cruz, with all due respect, tries to throw my network and CNN under the bus, let me stand up for my colleagues and journalists here in terms of this CNN report that he keeps quoting that he believes, you know, what we never said with regard to Dr. Carson’s campaign and going to Florida. Let me be precise, in case this is seen again, we reported it accurately. And here are the facts. Dr. Carson’s staff told us that he would return home to Florida to, quote unquote, take a breath from the campaign before resuming his activities on the campaign trail. That accurate report was disseminated on television and CNN digital and that was that. That was that. Congressman Meadows let me bring you back in. Forgive me, I just — when somebody tries to take down the media and misreport something it gets me fired up.” Baldwin added, “I’m going to call out BS when I hear BS. And that was BS.”

      And the plot thickens:

Ben Carson Addresses Cruz Tactics in Iowa:

‘BY THEIR FRUIT YOU WILL KNOW THEM’

      http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/02/03/ben-carson-i-spoke-with-ted-cruz-about-dirty-campaign-tactics/

Neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson cites the Gospel of Matthew, saying that when it comes to his political opponents, “by their fruit you will know them.”

“I hope you will judge all the people running for this position by the same standards,” he said at the National Press Club, refusing to say to reporters whether he was referring directly to Sen. Ted Cruz.

When pressed by reporters, however, Carson explained that it was clear what happened in Iowa, where members of Cruz’s campaign sent a message to caucus supporters hinting that Carson might be dropping out of the race.

“It’s clear that there were people who tried to take advantage of a situation who tried to distort information there’s no question about that,” Carson said.

Carson confirmed he spoke with Cruz about what happened and would wait to see what actions the senator would take.

“Sen. Cruz told me that he was not aware of that when I talked to him and he did not agree with that kind of thing … and we’ll wait to see what he does to demonstrate that,” Carson said.

Carson reminded reporters that he’s fired members of his own campaign for behaving badly.

He confirmed that he thinks Cruz’s tactics affected his caucus results in Iowa, pointing out that he got a lot of “intelligence” on the ground that suggested that he would do better than expected.

“I don’t think we can say what the outcome is,” he said, suggesting that he would want Cruz to hold someone to account, instead of letting it be “swept under the rug.”

Carson said he bases his decision on whether or not to stay in the presidential race based on the the size and strength of his campaign, crowds, donations, and social media.

“I will continue to be a voice as long as I feel that that is the case,” he said.

          • David Maggard

I am gonna say something I don’t “hear” others saying, the actual details of what Carson’s own campaign said would have been enough to make me not vote for him if I was in his camp, a presidential campaign is a marathon, not a sprint, if you need to go home for a couple of days of R&R and clean clothes even before the Iowa results have come in you don’t have what it takes to go the distance. MANY people, including those at CNN took their statements as a signal that he may be leaving the race, and them repeating those conclusions isn’t a crime and not something you are going to win a lawsuit over. You know what may be good grounds for a lawsuit? A candidate going on national TV with baseless accusations of criminal acts like “voter fraud”, or claiming an opponent isn’t eligible to be president when you know they are, and we know Trump knows Cruz is eligible because he publicly said he had his people look into it and confirm his eligibility. In short the person you are championing in his fight against “dirty tricks” has deliberately and repeatedly lied about his opponent, of course that is his only viable option, he can’t actually run on his of positions, policies, and record, because he is a Democrat pretending to be a Republican.

How About This One For Yourself.Woe To You That call Good Evil And Evil Good.

      • jumper297

At some point you need to accept reality. Carson’s bizarre, sleepy campaign screwed up. Rubio jumped on it, CNN reported it, and THEN Cruz tweeted it. Carson’s refusal to admit that the screw up initially came from them and then piously quoting scripture in one of the most sanctimonious displays I’ve seen in a while did him no favors. This was a non-event.

      • Knitwit

Is that why Dr. Carson is now placing the blame squarely on CNN??? Because Cruz is to blame??? Perhaps with the Biblical quote he is referring to “The Apprentice” as you would have him be known?

    • Hashtag pundit

What: you mean like Obama redux? But seriously.

  • JV

Trump reminds me of those ignorant lofo people at a bus stop threatening to sue the city because the bus is late again

As if threatening a law suit somehow justifies their position or moral authority

  • https://twitter.com/thedreadofpenny Penny Dreadful

What a bully. He’s not leader material. I pray to God he doesn’t win this election.

  • notenoughtime

Love or hate Trump, Cruz is far too smart to not insist his supporters check the facts before putting something out on another candidate, especially Carson. Plenty of shadiness on both sides in Iowa that makes us all think twice about the characters of those running.

    • Dobermite

Anyone from the Cruz campaign, or Cruz himself, could easily have dailed up the Carson campaign to ask if the report had any validity.

The truth is, THEY DIDN’T WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH, they saw an opportunity to steal Ben Carson’s votes and they ran with it. And the proof is, when the report was quickly corrected, the Cruz campaign DID NOT retweet it the way they retweeted the first report, so they allowed the impression that Carson was quitting to continue even AFTER they knew it was false. They deliberately deceived voters and poached Carson’s votes.

      • constitutionminded

Right at the beginning of the caucuses they were going to put everything on hold and make a phone call. Sure they would. Blame CNN.

  • Dobermite

Cruz just insured that if and when Ben Carson does choose to leave the race (the real kind, not the make-believe kind), his voters will go to anyone but the Rev. Ted

So Preacher Ted, Mr. Harvard smart guy, won a small skirmish in Iowa with these tactics, but he made it even more impossible for himself to win the war.

    • JV

      You need new meds

      • Dobermite

Save the snark for the twitter crowd, this is a message board where the conversation should be more substantive. Besides that, ridicule is a clear sign you are losing the argument. Cruz was caught lying and stealing, attacking me will not make that go away.

    • constitutionminded

What are you folks going to do when Hillary implodes and Donald switches party in mid stream?

  • JD Son✓MyWizIzTheShiz

It only took one little caucus in Iowa for Trump to implode.

    • nc ✓s & balances

An actual vote, as opposed to the polls he is so fond of.

    • kayerob

You Mean Ted A Lot Of Folks Love Dr C Down South And They Won’t Forget These Slimy tactics

  • Karla1953

Well for one thing why would a campaign issue a statement claiming their candidate was heading to FL and then later came out with some foolishness that he needed clothes…………..there are no stores anywhere…………….please you are running for POTUS. So it was easy to see why many would think that.
I so admire Dr Carson but this is not the first time that his campaign has not served him well.

    • Dobermite

      Here’s the better question …

Why didn’t Ted Cruz just take a brief minute to call Ben Carson and ask him if it was true that he was leaving the race?

Maybe because he didn’t want to know the truth, because he saw an opportunity and what he perceived as a justification to poach (i.e. steal) Ben Carson’s votes, so lets just run with it?

      • Karla1953

No that is a question that you are trying to deflect with/a campaign putting out that info an hour or so to caucus is the real WTF and now you want to turn it around and have everyone calling the Carson camp. That was crunch time they were still working on their own stuff.
However someone did try to reach out to the campaign and they got a very rude reaction…………………..so no one has time to chase down opponents and say what did you really mean GMAB with that silly season tricks are for kids crap

        • kayerob

The Campaign Never Put Out Anything It Was A Reporter. Armstrong Williams Said No One From Tge Cruz Campaign Called Them. I Guess They Are All liars

          • Karla1953

So the CNN reporter made it up just decided that he would throw that out there for shits and giggles………………yeah ok sure

The Lead CNN ‏@TheLeadCNN Feb 1

BREAKING: @moody has learned @realbencarson will return to FL following #IAcaucus, will not go to either NH or SC

And knew that I had read that someone tried to reach out and they did

Dana Loesch ‏@DLoesch 22h22 hours ago

Steve King told me on TV today that when he tried to ask Carson campaign rep about what CNN reported the rep was rude.

      • David Maggard

Are you mentally disabled so we should be understanding of you, or are you just an idiot? Cruz wasn’t in the office reading tweets from CNN and sending out messages, he was out at caucus sites meeting voters. He has a staff to monitor the media and distribute info relevant to the campaign, and when they read messages that a LOT of people took as a signal Carson was dropping out, they acted on it, like they should have, they weren’t calling Cruz on obvious things, and that was obvious. Now when Carson clarified things the decent thing to do was to distribute that info as well, which they didn’t do, and so Cruz apologized, but the issue was 100% caused by the Carson campaigns ambiguous statements, and Carson’s apparent fatigue.

    • kayerob

But He Never Said He Was Out And The Follow Up Tweet Right AfterSaid He Was in

      • Karla1953

And so when did CNN report the rest of it/like I said odd time to put something like this out but talk to CNN they did the reporting please this is a Trump ginned up crap

  • interestedobserver2

So if he actually shows up on the ballot in November, will he sue America when he’s crushed?

  • Davis Jackson

Donald’s a little low on energy. He needs more tiger blood so that he can get back to winning! I also think he is a little upset because his garden gnomes have been talking behind his back again……

  • kayerob

You All Are Sad. Why Don’t You Put Up A Link To Carsons Presser Today At The National Press Club? What Cruz Did To Him Was Completely Dirty And He Is Not Going ToLet This Go. Now I Can’t Wait To Hear You Call Carson A liar

    • Davis Jackson

Sounded like he was complaining about his own staffer. Who knew that you can’t find a decent dry cleaner in Iowa……..

      • David Maggard

Or a decent suit store, or have someone bring you clothes because you are busy doing something important, like running for POTUS.

  • truethevote

O.M.G. I was thrilled Trump stepped into the race because I knew he would make things interesting. That lasted about 2 months. Now I am so sick of hearing and seeing him I almost can’t stand it. What a whining, moaning narcissist! Don’t go away, Donald, just go away. You can’t sue your way to the presidency, you know.

Still NoSenators huh

  • constitutionminded

Did he contact Al Gore for advice on this?

  • jumper297

And THIS is the moron people really wanted to put in the White House? Much like nearly every other aspect of governance he’s been asked so far, Trump also seems to have no idea about how the caucus works or who is responsible for the results.

  • Dobermite

Let me explain how we got here:

Cruz was convinced that he had to win Iowa, a state with the largest evangelical population percentage in the country. If he couldn’t win Iowa, he would have been viewed as a fringe candidate who couldn’t win anywhere. Also if Trump were to win Iowa, as Cruz himself admitted to a group of pastors, he would be unstoppable.

The Cruz campaign went into the Iowa caucus believing that with every fiber of their beings, and having watched what was recently a ten point lead in the polls switch to a five point lead for Trump by caucus night, they were in a state of panic.

This led the Cruz campaign to an ANYTHING GOES mentality in the final push to the caucuses, which started with that vote-shaming scandal about 48 hours prior to the caucuses, followed by this whole Ben Carson debacle on caucus night.

Sadly real life is not a Disney movie. Sometimes a thief makes off with the loot. So they got out of Dodge before anyone realized they had stole the election, BUT NOW, in the aftermath, its crystal clear that a heist had taken place and the Cruz campaign were the culprits, and if you think they “STOLE THE ELECTION” is an overstatement, Karl Rove explained on O’Reilly how this Ben Carson missive was sent out to ALL of the Cruz precinct leaders, ALL 1500 of them, and how all each one needed to do was flip FOUR CARSON VOTERS per precinct and that would have been enough to switch the result from a Trump win to a Cruz win.

Now I detest Karl Rove as much as anyone, but the math is the math, math is not subjective, and the math was CRYSTAL CLEAR when Rove explained it.

So Trump is correct when he says Cruz stole Iowa, and we’re not getting it back, IOWA IS GONE, but now Cruz MUST face the music for this heist, he MUST NOT be allowed to walk away scot free. Its important that every other state knows what a liar and a thief Cruz is, and how he will say anything to manipulate them, thats why its important for Trump and Carson to make a fuss, even if some dimwits in the media imply that it makes them look small and nothing can be done about it now.

    • Binks

With all due respect you need help

    • Stephen

You’ve been all over this thread and just let it go, man. Let it go. It’s like this is your first breakup or something.

      • Binks

        Amen brother.

      • Dobermite

Sorry to interrupt Twitchy’s “Love Cruz/Hate Trump” echo chamber, but somebody has to challenge this one-sided POV. Somebody has to give the other side. I figured it might as well be me, but lets not get it twisted, its basically me against 90% of the other posters, thats why I have so many posts in this thread.

        • Binks

You,ve been selling, but we ain’t buying. Try another neighborhood. Actually you, very been preaching, I don’t like having repetitive BS shoved down my throat.

          • Dobermite

You will also notice that NOT ONCE in this thread have I resorted to personal attacks against Cruz supporters. I’m arguing substance, with the odds stacked at about 10 to 1 against me, and yet I’m the one who is personally attacked, and why, because I am winning on substance, cause when you have the truth on your side you have the winning argument, you simply need to make it, and if you do, even the odds don’t matter, thats why I’m personally attacked, and thats why I don’t need to respond with personal attacks.

          • Binks

Seriously, you have a very high level of self-importance. Everyone has a right to their opinion and that’s fine, but you have been spewing the same information over and over and over, we get it that is your opinion. If you want a group that will agree with you go there, but this little game of the poor little martyr is frankly tiresome.

        • Stephen

That’s fine, you’re welcome to have an opinion but Trump’s argument is lame and the Carson campaign seems completely incompetent.

    • CLZR

      Troll much?

  • doodle

All I can say is I can’t stand to look at him or hear from him. Every day it’s the same thing morning Joe, fox and friends, good morning America , and they all kiss his ass. It’s ridiculous . He says the same tired lines over and over and his followers buy it . Please America smarten up don’t let this man end up the republican frontrunner. Do you know how stupid it makes us look?

  • David Maggard

I do find it funny that his supporters praise him for coming to Carson’s rescue and choose to overlook that he compared him to a child molester not too long ago.

  • Binks

My biggest problem with Trump other than the ego, the adolescent behavior, and his hair is that he never tells us how he will make America great again He says he’ll improve trade deals with China and Mexico but doesn’t say how. He says he will deal with Isis but doesn’t say how only that it will be wonderful and fabulous and that they are fat ugly losers. He is a man of many words but very little substance.

    • David Maggard

I will admit I did have a Trump supporter inform me that Mexico was gonna pay for the wall via tariffs, the only problems I have with this is a little thing called NAFTA, the fact that the president doesn’t get to set tariffs single-handedly, and adding tariffs really means that the american consumers are paying for the wall with higher prices. Everything I see leads me to believe that Trump is as well-read on the constitution and it’s executive powers and limits as he is on “Two Corinthians”.

  • Stephen

You’re a sad, little man Donald.

  • Conrad2010

One way to recoup campaign expenses.

  • Secure

The Cruz campaign said that Carson was “making a big announcement next week.” Cruz totally pulled that OUT OF THIN AIR. Carson never said that, and neither did CNN.

    • ellapeal

Considering that a bunch of Carson staffers left the Carson campaign and joined Ted Cruz, they might have had some information, which was announced today–Carson was cutting back expenses and staff.

  • Lori Gluck

I’m wondering at what point should voter fraud be stopped? Not just talking about this particular thing but I’ve seen a ton of stuff about the fraud at the democratic caucus, even saw a video of how they ‘counted’ votes and there was no counting. So as long as the fraud helps the candidate you are for it’s ok? Or do we start demanding fair elections? IF we are a truly democratic society should all our votes not count for the person we cast the ballot for? I realize you all are making fun of Trump but if it was cruz would it be made fun of? How long are we going to let the cheating continue? Are we electing our president or has the next one already been selected and we are just accepting what they tell us? Personally I think Americans are like a bunch of cattle being herded into the barn without questions as to how can that possibly be an honest result. Just saying if you don’t think there was cheating in Iowa then your just gullible and should not be voting at all. But it was for your candidate so it’s ok I get it that’s the only way he will win? Can he not win if the deck isn’t stacked in his favor?

  • fools2234
