Connecticut Dem Sen. Chris Murphy couldn’t sit idly by while citizens protest the exchange of five Taliban leaders for suspected deserter Bowe Bergdahl. So he took to Twitter to vent:
Those soldiers who served with Bergdahl? They must be “Obama haters.” It’s always about Obama, after all.
And lest you think that Murphy’s accusations are baseless, he’s got proof:
From the “real journalists” at Talking Points Memo, no less:
Republican operatives apparently believe there’s something to be gained by painting Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl as a deserter.
The New York Times ran one of the manifold articles Monday focused on resentment toward Bergdahl among some of the soldiers in his unit, and the paper disclosed the interviews were arranged by GOP strategists.
Republicans and conservatives have questioned the legal and national security implications of the prisoner swap that led to Bergdahl’s release. But they have also scrutinized the POW over his 2009 disappearance and his stated objections to the military’s actions. Some on the right have even gone after Bergdahl’s father, Bob.
Well, there you have it. Clearly Bergdahl’s platoon mates are just tools of GOP operatives. What other explanation is there for their negative accounts?
It’s like they’re sharing a brain. A tiny, warped brain.
It doesn’t. But that’s of little import. What matters is that these soldiers are making Obama look bad. And according to Murphy, that invalidates everything they have to say.
If only he were capable of shame.
