As Twitchy reported, Reince Priebus banned RNC staffers from appearing on MSNBC until network president Phil Griffin publicly apologized for MSNBCâs race-baiting tweet. This afternoon, Griffin issued a statement. But is it really an apology?
Hereâs the text of the apology, via Politico:
The tweet last night was outrageous and unacceptable. We immediately acknowledged that it was offensive and wrong, apologized, and deleted it. We have dismissed the person responsible for the tweet. I personally apologize to Mr. Priebus and to everyone offended. At MSNBC we believe in passionate, strong debate about the issues and we invite voices from all sides to participate. That will never change.
Sigh. While itâs nice to see him acknowledging that the tweet was awful, once again, an MSNBC bigwig is asserting that âthis isnât who we are,â that all points of view are given respect. We all know thatâs B.S. For years, MSNBC has cultivated an environment of hate. And, barring a miracle, that will never change.
Priebus has reportedly accepted Griffinâs apology:
But that apology isnât worth squat if viciousness and bigotry remain the status quo at MSNBC.
Exactly. Meanwhile, Griffin might want to take pre-emptive measures before his networkâs next colossal blunder:
âThe Half-Assed Apology Channelâ might be better.
