Earlier today, staff at one Marriott hotel decided to commemorate the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Let’s just say they flopped on the execution:

Oof.
Your "memorial mini-muffins," @Marriott? Are pretty pathetic.

That Marriott 'free mini muffins for 30 minutes to remember 9/11' idea. Bet it came out of a meeting.

To its credit, Marriott Hotels tweeted out an apology:
We are aware of the picture shared of an offer at one of our hotels, and we sincerely apologize for any perceived insensitivity.
— Marriott Hotels (@Marriott) September 11, 2013
Unfortunately, that gesture also crumbled:
Calling it "perceived insensitivity" makes that apology not very sincere @Marriott

@Marriott there's no perceived insensitivity about it, it was ACTUALLY insensitive!
