Dude. Dude.
As Twitchy reported, President Barack “57 States” Obama showed off his mad geography skillz last night when he informed Jay Leno that Savannah, Charleston, and Jacksonville are, in fact, Gulf Coast ports. How could the Smartest President Evah™ make such a boneheaded mistake? Well, we’ve got a pretty good idea (hint: he’s not all that smart).

But the AP is still hoping to keep the ugly truth under wraps, and in his write-up of Obama’s “Tonight Show” appearance, he shamelessly demonstrated why the AP has become a trusted member of the president’s Lapdog Media Corpse:
Here’s how Obama is quoted in reporter Russ Bynum’s story:
Uh, no, actually. That’s not what Obama said. This is what Obama said:
If we don’t deepen our ports all along the Gulf — places like Charleston, South Carolina, or Savannah, Georgia, or Jacksonville, Florida — if we don’t do that, those ships are going to go someplace else. And we’ll lose jobs. Businesses won’t locate here.
What do you do when the president’s own words make him look incompetent? Just add parentheses!
So how did @AP @russbynum cover Obama's Gulf gaffe? By covering it up! ==> http://t.co/EJbn2uAQgG And this ==> http://t.co/yFfRIxAiK0

The @ap @russbynum parenthetical Obama Gulf gaffe rescue would be akin to putting an "(s)" after "potatoe" to cover for Dan Quayle.

.@ap Hm. You jump all over a Sarah Palin gaffe http://t.co/IYmvDedcvx …but cover up Obama's. http://t.co/6YoMJnKv8m

To this day, Sarah Palin is still hammered for “I can see Russia from my house” — which she never actually said. But when Obama goofs, media lapdogs bend over backwards to keep him smelling like roses.
Heckuva job, AP.
@michellemalkin @russbynum Out: "What about your gaffes?!?" In: "What gaffes?"
