Sixteen-year-old Gabrielle Douglas has more than proved her worth as a gymnast, Olympic champion, and all-around rock star. For some inexplicable reason, though, some people have chosen to focus on her hair, rather than on her amazing accomplishments. Criticism of Douglas’ ‘do has come largely from African American women. The haters have been facing a backlash since their comments initially came out, from fellow African American women as well as the public at large. Celebrities have also stepped up to defend Douglas against her detractors:
