Earlier today, the U.S. women’s Olympic gymnastics team pulled out a set of amazing performances that won them the gold medal, the first for the U.S. women’s team since 1996.

The victory was sweet for all involved, but perhaps even sweeter for Jordyn Wieber, 2011 women’s all-around world champion, who this weekend failed to qualify for a spot in the women’s all-around competition. After being knocked out, Wieber was devastated. If her glowing, ear-to-ear smile is any indication, though, her earlier pain has been replaced with pride, satisfaction, and utter joy.

Wieber’s fans were ecstatic:

She certainly deserves the title of champion. Congratulations to Wieber and the entire women’s team!
