A judge has set a $1 million bond for Nevine Aly Elshiekh, 46, who is accused of aiding a convicted terrorist.
Hysen Sherifi, 27, was sentenced in January to 45 years in prison for plotting to attack the U.S. Marine Corps base in Quantico, Va., as well as targets overseas.
[Elshiekh] cannot use a cellphone or the Internet, nor can she have any contact with witnesses or defendants in her case or the terrorism case involving Sherifi – one of eight people with Triangle ties indicted on charges that they plotted a series of terrorist attacks.
[The judge] also ordered that Elshiekh’s passport be canceled.
Her attorneys say she was a pawn in the scheme, noting she was just a courier who passed along information from Sherifi and never knew that he wanted people beheaded.
She is currently under house arrest in Raleigh, North Carolina.
