You have just annoyed a lot of people who love this book, and author, congrats.

Lefties and feminists have been falling all over themselves to gush over Hulu’s new TV adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale.” It’s so “timely” and “relevant” because Trump’s America is basically hell on earth for women, don’t you know.
First read Atwood's "Handmaid's Tale" years ago when dystopian US seemed utterly fanciful. Now, congress, supreme court & pres. dystopian.

Actor-comedian Norm Macdonald, though, isn’t understanding what all the fuss is about:
I've just read an incredible article where "The Handmaid's Tale", a sub-par piece of science-fi trash, is defended by its author.
— Norm Macdonald (@normmacdonald) April 26, 2017
The author, who rightly should be apologizing for her execrable prose, not only defends it but calls it "timely".
— Norm Macdonald (@normmacdonald) April 26, 2017
The book has been made in to some sort of cable mini-series.
— Norm Macdonald (@normmacdonald) April 26, 2017
I'm Canadian, so had to suffer through this book as a young person. It's one of those cheap, dystopian tracts.
— Norm Macdonald (@normmacdonald) April 26, 2017
The difference with this one is it has a deeply paranoid feminist look into the future.
— Norm Macdonald (@normmacdonald) April 26, 2017
The story is as impossible as most of these " frightening looks into the future".
— Norm Macdonald (@normmacdonald) April 26, 2017
But to call it timely, when the possibility of this fiction ever becoming fact even more of a joke, is just a cynical cash-grab.
— Norm Macdonald (@normmacdonald) April 26, 2017
Macdonald’s take may not be woke, but it makes a hell of a lot more sense than the mix of squeeing and fearmongering from lefties.

Update:

As promised, Macdonald picked up today where he’d left off:
Norm, youre amusing, but compared to Atwood you're a featherweight. I beg you, don't pick a fight with her.
— Bill German (@WilliamGerman3) April 26, 2017
Billy, do yourself a favor and take pity on your bookshelf, which groans under the ponderous and sweaty works of your heavyweight Ms. Atwood. https://t.co/kDX1EysbBC

— Norm Macdonald (@normmacdonald) April 27, 2017
Sorry you are in a conflict with Atwood but I find her to be an incredibly talented writer. HMsT is one of my favorite novels.

Not the true meaning of the word mediocre, of course. I would say "unpublishable" would describe her style. https://t.co/jh0YWPNE0J
