Secretary of State Antony Blinken is proud to announce that, under Joe Biden, the US will re-engage with the human rights abusers on the UNHRC

The Biden administration really does seem to be committed to undoing every good thing that happened while Donald Trump was president.

So why should their approach to the U.N. not follow the same pattern?

This morning, Secretary of State Tony Blinken had this to say about America’s relationship with the U.N. Human Rights Council:

Great take, Mr. Secretary! Except, of course, for the part that sucks. Which is the entire thing.

So that was actually a terrible take.

Beyond broken.

We have literally no good reason to re-engage with oppressive, genocidal regimes. We have literally no good reason to re-engage with anti-Semites and terrorist apologists.

Walking away from the U.N. Human Rights Council may not persuade human rights abusers to stop abusing human rights, but it would certainly send a very loud and clear message that the United States doesn’t engage with or support human rights abuse.
