The Libertarian Party is ostensibly about working to preserve and protect our fundamental rights. And that’s a worthy endeavor. But it doesn’t mean much when they don’t extend that courtesy to all Americans, including many whose fundamental right to life is at risk.
Last night, the official Libertarian Party Twitter account clarified their apparent stance on abortion:
Our Platform:
1.5 Abortion
Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.#DemDebate— Libertarian Party (@LPNational) November 21, 2019
Abortion is indeed a sensitive issue. But the personhood of an unborn, you know, person, really shouldn’t be in dispute. Being pro-life shouldn’t conflict with Libertarianism; it should be part of it.
Of all the hills to die on, this is … not the hill to die on.

It’s really ain’t.
The sole abiding purpose of government is to protect the natural rights of individuals who make up its citizenry from those who would violate those rights, especially in the case of the weaker being protected from the stronger.
Abortion is a violation of the child’s rights.

I'm a libertarian. Government's only job is to protect our God given/natural rights. We cannot exercise any of our other rights without first having our right to life.
This tweet and apparently your platform is pandering BS. https://t.co/LfuZnNL0xR

Libertarians have a fundamental principle of non-aggression. Abortion is the epitome of aggression. This is the least logical stance of the party, tantamount to saying slaves are personal property so government shouldn't interfere.

That platform is inconsistent with individual rights. It’s just not that simple.

Failing to protect human rights is not libertarian.

Gotta have life to have liberty, LIBERTarians.

We have a right to 1. Life 2. Liberty and 3. The Pursuit of Happiness- in that order. And 2 and 3 are impossible without 1
