You might want to sit down for this, but it appears that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been lying again.
As Twitchy told you earlier, AOC went after the New York Post and Dan Crenshaw for accurately representing Ilhan Omar’s comments about the 9/11 terrorists, armed with some “facts”:
I’m not going to quote the NY Post’s horrifying, hateful cover.
Here’s 1 fact: @IlhanMN is a cosponsor of the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund. She‘s done more for 9/11 families than the GOP who won’t even support healthcare for 1st responders- yet are happy to weaponize her faith.
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) April 11, 2019
You refuse to cosponsor the 9/11 Victim’s Compensation Fund, yet have the audacity to drum resentment towards Ilhan w/completely out-of-context quotes.
In 2018, right-wing extremists were behind almost ALL US domestic terrorist killings. Why don’t you go do something about that? https://t.co/rkb92IxkKX
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) April 11, 2019
Aside from the fact that while she was busy tending bar, Dan Crenshaw was risking his life to protect ingrates like her, AOC’s attempt to paint Ilhan Omar as some sort of patriot and Crenshaw and Republicans as the enemies of 9/11 victims is rooted in dishonesty:
This is pretty deceptive.
The bill has *not* even been voted on in the House.
A person does *not* have to cosponsor a bill to vote in support of it.
— Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) April 11, 2019
See for yourselves:
The most recent action on the bill was referring it to a subcommittee. More:
Ocasio-Cortez is lying, again
1. The Republican-controlled House and Senate passed a bill in 2016 allowing the 9/11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia for the attack. Obama vetoed it. The GOP-controlled House and Senate overrode Obama's veto: https://t.co/CfAq6P9UbN pic.twitter.com/GJ2W90OlEk

The 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund has been around for years, Ilhan Omar did not create it.
The bill was initially signed into law right after 9/11 by President George W. Bush: https://t.co/8VwkpALcGR
It has been renewed multiple times since 9/11 to keep funding going
— Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) April 11, 2019
The bill AOC is talking about has *NOT* been voted on
217 Republicans and Democrats cosponsored the bill, which means nothing because politicians sign on as cosponsors to bills to pad their resumes with accomplishments
A person does *not* have to cosponsor a bill to vote for it
— Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) April 11, 2019
According to congress.gov, the bill currently has 213 cosponsors. And no, cosponsoring a bill is not the same as voting for it. Given what happened with her Green New Deal in the Senate, AOC should be well aware of that by now.
Republicans always support funding the military more than Democrats do and are much harder on terrorism than Democrats are.
Omar has called for defunding the entire Department of Homeland Security, which was created after 9/11 to prevent another 9/11 from happening. pic.twitter.com/5CObh1Kq5c
— Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) April 11, 2019
Omar has also advocated for leniency in the sentencing of men who were convicted of trying to join ISIS: https://t.co/xL5XtjHkiN
Just last week, Omar called for a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood member to be released from prison in Egypt: https://t.co/FmYy5dTGOD pic.twitter.com/GK1WBTfijf

***ALSO***
Just last month, Jon Stewart, who *hates* Trump, praised the Trump administration for how it was handling the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund and for doing everything in their power to help the victims of 9/11 victims: https://t.co/Tntd24XIZq

AOC’s backed herself into quite a corner. If she continues to push forward with these lies, she’s confirming that she’s willfully dishonest. And if she pleads ignorance of the truth, she admits she’s stupid. In either case, she looks bad.
It’s almost if she is purposely stupid

She really believes that we are uninformed and just believe all the crap she spews … she is uninformed… maybe using that to her advantage with her side…
— D Johnson (@dtaylorjohnson8) April 11, 2019
Accurately quoting someone is now a hateful act to these little snowflakes.
Co-sponsoring a bill is a meaningless show that costs her nothing, but can be weaponized by morons to defend against accurate charges of bigotry against her. #GoChaseYourself https://t.co/s52hH9ENqD— Derek Hunter (@derekahunter) April 11, 2019
AOC owes Dan Crenshaw — and all of us — an apology. But we know better than to hold our breath.

Update:
Didn't think AOC's dishonest hit on Dan Crenshaw could look worse? Think again! https://t.co/WScoM3DvnG
