As Twitchy told you yesterday, members of the BuzzFeed News Union got the brush-off from BuzzFeed execs who didn’t seem all that interested in recognizing their union.
Well, today, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is inserting himself into the controversy — whether BuzzFeed likes it or not:
To the union: This city stands with you.
To the management: Come. To. The. Table.

Memo to Bill de Blasio: You’re a thug. Thanks for reminding us.
Why are you sticking your nose in this?

Why don’t you stay out of it

Mind your own business.

How about you stay out of private disputes? This isn't Nicaragua. https://t.co/1817938LnO

Where does DeBlasio get off intervening in private workplace disputes, let alone in a threatening manner? https://t.co/xJCKJKMewS

Look at this blatant attack on a free and fair press. This undermines the fee speech institutions that safeguard our republic. This is dangerous and Democracy died a little today. https://t.co/gGwF8pkLIc

For what it’s worth, BuzzFeed doesn’t seem persuaded by de Blasio’s threats:
BuzzFeed spox responds: "This process is not going to benefit from the involvement of a deeply unpopular mayor who has expressed an open disdain for journalists during his time in office."https://t.co/e9NfZwVEWn https://t.co/1yiwaO87Lf

Seriously, good on them. Bill de Blasio is begging to be taken down a notch or ten. With any luck, this’ll take him down an eleventh:
Guess you now know what that groundhog felt like after you spiked it into the pavement, you 9ft tall monstrosityhttps://t.co/iQrZA5I579
