As Twitchy told you, CNN’s Jim Acosta played the victim card at today’s White House press briefing and tried to get Sarah Sanders to acknowledge that Donald Trump bears responsibility for things like the recent bomb scare. Sanders didn’t take Acosta’s bait, and she returned fire by pointing out that many in the media — including numerous CNN luminaries — wasted no time trying to blame Trump for the actions of a lunatic, rather than blaming the lunatic himself.
That really stuck in CNN’s comms team’s craw, because they didn’t take long to try to label Sanders a liar:
No @PressSec, CNN did not say @realDonaldTrump was directly responsible for the bomb sent to our office by his ardent and emboldened supporter. We did say that he, and you, should understand your words matter. Every single one of them. But so far, you don’t seem to get that. pic.twitter.com/ZbH5DQggWq

If CNN didn’t say that Donald Trump “was directly responsible for the bomb sent to [their] office by his ardent and emboldened supporter,” then what exactly were they saying here?

We already know that CNN thinks we’re stupid. But they actually expect us to believe that they weren’t blaming Donald Trump for the mail bomb — a bomb which, by the way, apparently could not have detonated as it was — addressed to John Brennan and delivered to their office.
Once again, CNN is blatantly lying.

No no. Merely that he was directly responsible for inciting the violence that led to the fake bombs sent to your office.

CNN’s just pissed that Sanders used her considerable platform to call them out on their bullsh*t.
You implied his words caused these events. CNN really needs to stop with the lying and the #FakeNews. This is why you are part of the problem.

Laughably false. You guys have spent every day since last Wednesday offering rhetoric winks at your viewers whenever you use the word "but" as a turn of phrase to then blame the President. You've attacked conservative media and supporters as to blame. Not fooling anyone, Zucker
