Gina Haspel is on her way to becoming the next director of the CIA. Feminists should be doing cartwheels at the prospect of a woman ascending to such a powerful position. But Gina Haspel isn’t a real woman. At least not according to the standards set forth by feminist crusaders like Jessica Valenti:
Anyone who thinks Gina Haspel is a win for "women's empowerment" doesn't understand that there's a huge difference between being a feminist and being a woman who benefitted from feminism
— Jessica Valenti (@JessicaValenti) May 9, 2018
In other words, Gina Haspel is the wrong kind of woman.
Conservative women have been trying to co-opt feminism for the better part of a decade. I wrote about this in 2010 when the GOP tried to pull the same shit with Sarah Palin https://t.co/C1Tgepu7mv

Well, if nothing else, at least Jessica is admitting that modern feminism has no interest in empowering conservative women.
All women are equal but some women are more equal than others.

Predictable response from the left:
"We stand up for all women!"
"But if you're not a liberal, you're not a REAL woman…" https://t.co/7cmhQdvZwQ

Really? Shouldn’t all women benefit from feminism? True feminism embraces all woman not just those you deem acceptable.

So libs only fight for women’s rights for liberal women, not ALL women like libs like to pretend. Got it. Not that I’m surprised.

So her being an accomplished female is nullified because she doesn't share your ideology? Kinda pathetic, really.
— Anne [V]i[K]ing (@AV_snarkeyes) May 9, 2018
Really? And who’s the grand priestess of feminism that gets to decide? Gloria Steinam? Cher? Rosie ODonnell?
— RightWinger (@eRtwngr) May 9, 2018
If Valenti thinks Haspel is the wrong choice for CIA director, why can’t she focus on Haspel’s qualifications, or lack thereof? It’s simple, really: Modern feminism isn’t about empowering women at all.
How dare YOU tell ME what feminism is and whether or not I or anyone else fits your self-serving agenda-based definition. As a strong, competent woman, I will not bend to your ideological whim

Jessica, I am a woman.
My friends and I laugh at you.— Jtomka ? (@jtomka) May 9, 2018
