We’ve learned a lot from Twitter. Like, for example, did you know that Marco Rubio is not allowed to talk about America’s Judeo-Christian heritage? When Rubio tweeted this earlier today:
The debate after #Parkland reminds us We The People don’t really like each other very much.We smear those who refuse to agree with us.We claim a Judea-Christian heritage but celebrate arrogance & boasting. & worst of all we have infected the next generation with the same disease
— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) February 28, 2018
Rabbi, author, and HuffPost contributor Danya Ruttenberg took great offense:
MY JEWISH HERITAGE TEACHES THAT WE DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO SAVE LIVES.
Get my tradition out of your mouth while you’re taking that blood money. https://t.co/TwolPFavYl
— Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg (@TheRaDR) February 28, 2018
Geez.
This might be a good time to note that “Judeo-Christian” is not a thing and we Jews would like you to stop conflating our tradition with your American Christianity.
— Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg (@TheRaDR) February 28, 2018
Um, OK.
Amen, sister. Some of us Christians are pretty pissed about that so-called "American Christianity" too.

BOOM. this is my most favorite tweet of the day.
— ?apocalypse heart? (@pauljessup) February 28, 2018
If that’s true, then your standards must be really low.
This is nonsense. https://t.co/GxCyn1JQoS
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) February 28, 2018
Shame on you for your ahistorical nonsense. https://t.co/yCADqw4VE9
— John Podhoretz (@jpodhoretz) February 28, 2018
Nonsense.
There is even Hebrew writing on the Liberty Bell.
Translated: "Proclaim liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants." https://t.co/GNfhR5frg8

Apparently Rabbi Ruttenberg missed that memo.
Hilarious that a female rabbi (nonexistent in most of Judaism) is lecturing others on what Jews do or don't like. https://t.co/bSOKOjYAcT

Rabbi: just as an FYI- you don't speak for me.
— Michael Henry (@mhenrylaw1) February 28, 2018
Not sure you speak for all Jews. Unless I missed the establishment of a Jewish Pope. https://t.co/fP8MeZ1TBx
— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahNRO) February 28, 2018
Unless we missed that, too, she’s completely full of it.
We have never been expected to lay down our own lives in favor of someone trying to kill us.
Why am I explaining this to a rabbi? You know this. You're supposed to know this, anyway. https://t.co/5ffy90cdiz
— Nathan Wurtzel (@NathanWurtzel) February 28, 2018
Seems like knowing things isn’t really her strong suit.
Judeo-Christian is most definitely a thing.
— Just Don't (@_asalwas) February 28, 2018
Judaism and Christianity are deeply intertwined. American Christianity has generally had a deeper love for the Old Testament than European Christianity. And the vast majority of religious American Christians see the Jews as the root of the tree of Christ.
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) February 28, 2018
The fact that America is Judeo-Christian and not merely Christian is a reflection of those facts.
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) February 28, 2018
Not that Rabbi Ruttenberg is interested in educating herself, but just in case:
.@TheRaDR Actually, Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik has a whole lecture series on Judeo-Christian values at the time of the USA’s founding that you can watch here, if you can’t be bothered to crack a book. Half off with offer code @Commentary! ? https://t.co/RhVidK3KIu @tikvahfund
