The National Rifle Association is taking steps to defend law-abiding gun owners. Crazy, right? Given that it’s their raison d’être and all.

Well, CAP Action deputy director Igor Volsky, who is also the director of anti-gun org Guns Down, has a big problem with that. So now that the NRA is offering insurance to protect gun owners, Volsky’s feeling extra put-out. So he’s taking a bold stand and speaking out against “murder insurance”:

We’re sure this will come as a huge surprise to you, but Volsky is insisting that “murder insurance” is just the latest piece of evidence that the NRA is racist:

Some are calling it “murder insurance,” and say that rather than promoting personal responsibility and protection, it encourages gun owners to take action and not worry about the consequences. And, they say, it’s being marketed in a way that feeds on the nation’s racial divisions.

Guns Down, a gun-control group formed last year, is running an ad campaign to criticize the NRA’s new insurance. It’s just the latest group to take aim at the NRA’s offering.

“The reason I call it murder insurance is because if you look at the way this is marketed, it’s really sold in the context of ‘There’s a threat around every corner, dear mostly-white NRA member,’ and that threat is either a black man or a brown man or some other kind of person of color,” said Guns Down director Igor Volsky.

Never mind that the NRA has been fighting for the rights of gun owners of every color since its inception.

In other words, the NRA is a haven for knuckle-dragging white men who can’t handle people who look different from them. Do we have this right?

Well, yeah. Because your tweet was stupid, Igor.

Ooo, snap!
