At the beginning of 2016, protesters went to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to in what would result in a 41-day occupation of the Federal property. Ten months later, a jury found seven of these protesters not guilty.

Roughly 24 people were arrested for the occupation; seven more of the protesters will face trial in February of 2017.
