Effective immediately, just in time for midterms, a district judge has blocked an Ohio law that requires proof of citizenship to register to vote at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. We don't have much more detail than that, other than sleazeball attorney Marc Elias saying that the judge found the law was "preempted by the National Voter Registration Act."

Trump pretty much has plenary power over FEDERAL elections. This judge cannot supersede the President’s powers if there are federal races on the ballot, and proof of citizenship is a requirement for federal elections. Once again, the judiciary is trying to slow Trump down…

SCOTUS has already ruled on activist judges 6-3 these judges must stay in their place. Ohio’s voting ID requirements will stand.

This editor lives in Ohio and recently shared his experience of jumping through hoops with his wife to get REAL IDs so she could board a plane. Birth certificates (duplicates of which had to be ordered, which took months), Social Security numbers, utility bills for proof of residency, and more. So how can you register to vote at the BMV without proof of citizenship?
