Whelp. Lesson learned, eh, parents? The time-honored tradition of letting the kids stay up late to watch the New Year’s ball drop in Times Square is now NSFF: Not safe for families.
Both ABC and NBC came under fire for airing inappropriate and excessive filth.

NBC so busy promoting homosexuality and other filth they missed the Ball Drop… of course… Idiots. #RevokeNBCLicense

@DjFlowe I couldn't even let my kids watch it. It was awful.

Sad that I had to change channel off NYE show on ABC because I can't trust Miley Cyrus and my kids are watching.

For many who endured all the vulgarity and trash, the disappointment only grew worse:
Kids are crying after making it to midnight and then @nbc didn't show the ball drop. Let's hope 2014 improves from here on out.

What the heck?! Was the director of @nbc Carson Daly's New Years Drunk? Didn't even show ball drop. My daughter's disappointed.
