Oh, snap! Could a byline strike at The New York Times spark more buzz than the crowd numbering in the ones that showed up for Sandra Fluke? Twitter users are at the ready to provide mockery, if not buzz.
OMG. How will we cope if NYT staff does byline strike? The horror.

Will it happen? NRO’s Jonah Goldberg gets to the bottom of the potential New York Times strike.
Thinking the unthinkable. NYT considers a byline strike. http://t.co/DEhGCeVU

Put down any hot liquids.
Okay, here it is. . . .
The staff of the New York Times is considering a byline strike!
Oh, the humanity! Writers at The New York Times have “quietly signed pledges to withhold their bylines, photo credits, and producing credits.” Twitter users not so quietly pledge to provide mockery. Mock. Mock like the wind!
NRO’s Jonah Goldberg continues to set that bar high.
I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the 7 seals. Then I heard 1 of the 4 creatures say in a voice like thunder, "NYT Byline Strike!"
— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahDispatch) October 22, 2012
.@capdc Hey, my guess is that 70% of journalists think a "byline strike" is a typesetting term.
— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahDispatch) October 22, 2012
Both campaigns are obviously scrambling to prepare debate statements on the New York Times byline strike.

"It all began with the New York Times byline strike."
— No one, ever.

Dear @DouthatNYT I don't care if you go on byline strike. I'll always know it's you!
— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahDispatch) October 22, 2012
Heh. To his credit, Russ Douthat responds to the jibe and joins in the hilarity.
@JonahNRO Actually, Tom Friedman and I have been writing each other's column for the last six months, and you never even noticed.
— Ross Douthat (@DouthatNYT) October 22, 2012
@DouthatNYT Funny, I did say to myself once, "I don't remember Tom Friedman being this Catholic."
— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahDispatch) October 22, 2012
Snap! Other Twitter users follow Jonah’s lead.
.@JonahNRO It would be hilarious if this extended to the Times' opinion columnists. (e.g., "Is this Bruni or Dowd? I can't tell.")

A possible NYT byline strike? That's big news. In 1938.
— Steve Ulfelder (@SteveUlfelder) October 22, 2012
Those NYT writers are martial arts pundits. Byline strike threat strikes fear in hearts of at least 2 people.
— KayBDay (@IndieArtSouth) October 22, 2012
Hey, nearly one-fifth of a Sandra Fluke rally! So, there’s that.
If the NYT writers go through with a byline strike, how tough will it be to figure out who wrote, say, the 538 post?

Can we donate to the cause to help this get off the ground? MT @Heminator @mlcalderone NYT staffers considering byline strike.

Oh yeah, I'm sure the poobahs at the NYT are sweating over the proposed byline strike. That's like turning the gun on yourself during a duel

I've often wondered about byline strikes like the one the NYT is planning — does anyone notice other than journalists? http://t.co/Nn0JS5gM

It’s so cute that anyone thinks that The New York Times still has any cred at all.
