As Twitchy reported, President Smart Diplomacy went on Telemundo last night and unilaterally declared that Egypt is not an ally. Who lost Egypt? Obama did.

The White House is already desperately trying to walk it back.

And from Foreign Policy:

White House spokesman Tommy Vietor told The Cable Thursday that the administration is not signaling a change in that status.

“I think folks are reading way too much into this,” Vietor said. “‘Ally’ is a legal term of art. We don’t have a mutual defense treaty with Egypt like we do with our NATO allies. But as the president has said, Egypt is longstanding and close partner of the United States, and we have built on that foundation by supporting Egypt’s transition to democracy and working with the new government.”

Oh, well. A “legal term of art.” How on earth did he utter that with a straight face? It depends on what the definition of “is” is. Or something.

And here are the lapdogs, responding to their whistle, at the ready to spin. Spin like the wind! They must be dizzy from chasing their tails in circles all the time.

He clarified, you see. All gone now!

Yet, the media spin will continue.

Nancy Pelosi didn’t get the walk-back memo.

It’s totally fine. Romney’s fault, natch.
