Member of European Parliament from the U.K. Daniel Hannan floated an idea for how to deal with British citizens who leave to fight for the Islamic State. The topic was raised by speculation that the man who murdered journalist James Foley may have been British.

Of course in politics, a common sense idea can’t just be taken at face value. You have to argue about who came up with the idea first.

Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party, did in fact make a similar proposal. It’s not a complex idea. It probably occurred to many people.

Definitely time to pull the ripcord on that conversation.

Naturally an idea that treats the Islamic State as an enemy is going to dredge up some Israel haters.
