Hillary Clinton tweeted a condemnation of the Sudan’s human rights offenses—specifically in the case of Meriam Yahya Ibrahim Ishag, the pregnant Christian woman sentenced to death by a Sudanese court for apostasy. Ibrahim has also been sentenced to be flogged for adultery because the court does not recognize her marriage to a Christian. Clinton’s statement was met with both support and skepticism.
Meriam Yahya Ibrahim’s death sentence is abhorrent. Sudan should stop threatening religious freedom and fundamental human rights.
