Left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore is attacking America’s criminal justice system this morning.
It is true that a long list of black Americans have hit it big in Hollywood — not just singers but actors, writers, comedians, and rappers. Some of those entertainers, such as Dr. Dre and Oprah Winfrey, have parlayed their fame into very profitable businesses. Blacks have also made strides in other areas of American life during the last 150 years, including politics and non-entertainment-related business.
America’s inner cities are dysfunctional — crime, poverty, unemployment, and drugs are endemic — but likening the current situation to a “slave system” is absurd. And disarming the police is one of Moore’s dumbest ideas ever — and that’s really saying something.
