Four years ago, San Francisco resident Melissa Klein was an ardent supporter of President Obama and Obamacare. Not anymore. In an open letter to Obama, she said she has changed her mind:
[A]s of today I’ve stopped making excuses for you and this system. It’s time to get your shit together. If I knew then, what I know now, I would have foregone insurance and taken the tax penalty. In fact, I’d rather be dead and broke than have to participate in Covered California’s health care exchange.
Basically, Covered California screwed up her 1095A form and then insisted she had never enrolled, despite the fact that she has invoices from Covered California documenting her premium payments.
.@CoveredCA is telling me Im not in the system having insurance despite proof, I have invoices they sent and I records that I paid them.

.@CoveredCA i support obamacare, but not incompetence. i cant file my taxes because of a form that was never generated and may never be.

.@CoveredCA i spent an hour on the phone w/u only for u to tell me to call kaiser. i call kaiser & they say you have it through @CoveredCA

there is an app for purchasing weed & yet our health care system can't generate a form for the IRS? #Obamacareblows @CoveredCA @WhiteHouse

@CoveredCA now Kaiser told me to call you back. is there a direct line?
— melissa klein (@sistaklein) February 23, 2015
@CoveredCA and now Im back on hold with you. Ive now wasted over 2 hours on this.
— melissa klein (@sistaklein) February 23, 2015
Amazon can ship something in NYC in an hour, but @whitehouse @coveredcalifornia can't create a healthcare system that functions.
— melissa klein (@sistaklein) February 23, 2015
Amazing, @CoveredCA is following me now, but hasn't responded to a single tweet. That's what I call customer service in the social media age
— melissa klein (@sistaklein) February 23, 2015
Unreal. The net net from @coveredca is nothing. They will not resolve this. So what, i don't file my taxes?
— melissa klein (@sistaklein) February 23, 2015
@CoveredCA i have, and i'll continue to tweet until this issue is resolved.
— melissa klein (@sistaklein) February 23, 2015
@BarackObama was a huge supporter. No more. @coveredca has NO record of my insurance. Even though I paid and Kaiser does. So I have no 1095.
— melissa klein (@sistaklein) February 24, 2015
@travischoma id be shocked if i get a letter confirming fax. But the 2 weeks was for that. They said at least 2 months to investigate-
— melissa klein (@sistaklein) February 24, 2015
As moronic and TERRIBLE as @coveredca has been, the bright light in all of this is @KPShare. Kudos Kaiser for your customer service.
— melissa klein (@sistaklein) February 25, 2015
Kaiser, by the way, is a private health plan.
@danprimack sadly, bad customer service spans both sides of the aisle. @CoveredCA makes @comcastcares look like the dali lama.

Her conclusion:
It saddens me to say this, but I no longer believe that the government should mandate health care. It’s not because I’ve abandoned the basic principles behind health care reform. Quite the contrary. But a great idea, is just an idea, if you can’t execute. And the government has proven time and time again, it can’t execute.
Well, elections have consequences.
