It’s important to note that this patient has not yet been confirmed to be carrying the Ebola virus.

The patient is reportedly being transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, the same hospital where “patient zero” (Thomas Duncan) was treated and died.

If this patient caught Ebola from Duncan in Dallas, we believe it would be the first case of Ebola transmission within the United States.

A spokesman for the CareNow Urgent Care clinic tells Mashable editor Brian Ries the patient did not come into contact with Duncan:

The patient did, however, reportedly travel to West Africa:

Update/correction: The patient presented at an urgent care clinic in Frisco, Texas, not Dallas. We have corrected our headline accordingly. The patient is currently en route to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. According to Google maps, the drive is about 26 miles.

Dana Baird, Frisco’s director of communications and media relations stated that the patient “claims to have had contact with the Dallas ‘patient zero.'”

Here is a photo of the patient exiting the Urgent Care clinic in Frisco:

Whoa. Dallas Morning News reporter Matthew Haag says a local news outlet is reporting that the patient is a Dallas County sheriff’s deputy who was inside Duncan’s apartment.

The ambulance carrying the patient to the hospital has arrived:

Five days ago, the Dallas Morning News reported that Dallas County sheriff’s deputies complained about being ordered inside Duncan’s apartment without protective gear.

The name of the deputy sheriff is either Michael Monnig or Michael Monning. Earlier this month, he was ordered into Thomas Duncan’s apartment without protective gear.

Of course, he may or may not have Ebola. Twitchy will update this post with any important developments.
