According to the David’s Bridal survey hyped by USA Today, more than three thousand couples are getting married today. Judging by the Twitter accounts of reporters and producers, this is a big news story:

According to the Centers for Disease Control, which for some reason tracks this, there are 2,096,000 marriages per year in the United States alone.

2,096,000 divided by 365 is 5,742.

So if there are 3,000 weddings in the U.S. today, that will be well below the average.
