Sinead O'Connor fibs about her 100-meter time?

The bogus claim was reported by The Independent’s Nick Duerden:

Sinead O’Connor is telling me that, as a child, she could run like the wind. “I was fast, a great sprinter: 100m in 11.3 seconds.”

The Irish national record is 11.40 seconds.

If O’Connor ran 11.3 seconds for 100 meters “as a child,” she would have been one of the world’s top young sprinters at the time.

Twitchy verdict: Either O’Connor is lying or Duerden misquoted her.
