As a result of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., the National Rifle Association is calling for armed guards in every school.
Many Twitter users, however, believe it would be more effective and less expensive to allow teachers to arm themselves if they wish.
The NRA would be far more effective leaning on the states to allow all school employees to be armed.

@dkberman so let the teachers carry. Get rid of the "gun free zone" target on their backs.

NRA calls for armed police officer in every school http://t.co/tnBklSUF Not good; We don't need/want a 'police state'. Allow citizens carry!

I agree with NRA statement that stated the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Allow school officers 2 be armed.

Armed guards is a great idea. Let's also arm teachers and allow citizens with concealed permits to carry on campus. http://t.co/YDclSElb

The only problem with one armed guard at a school is the odds that he will likely be the first one shot. Allow teachers to arm themselves..

We wouldn't need "armed guards" if we would simply allow teachers with gun licenses carry their guns on them.

I'm not of "Let's arm all teachers" mentality, but think it's idiotic to bar concealed carry in schools for those teachers who want them.

Most gun control advocates believe the idea is beyond the pale:
First fucker to say the solution is for elementary school teachers to carry guns needs to get beaten to death.

We don't let prison guards carry guns, but now the NRA wants teachers packing? Pathetic.

People are trying to let it be legal for teachers to carry guns at school. Crazy asses.
