Thousands gathered at MIT’s Briggs Field in Cambridge, Mass., to honor and remember Sean A. Collier, the 27-year-old MIT police officer whose life was cut short during a shootout with the Boston bombing suspects. The MIT memorial service for the fallen officer took place at noon on Wednesday.
In a moving tribute, memorial attendees were given “Collier Strong” tags to wear.

Earlier this week, there was a powerful sea of blue as officers lined the streets and escorted Collier’s body to the funeral home. At the Wednesday MIT service, there was another sea of blue as thousands of officers from around the nation and beyond traveled to Massachusetts to honor Collier.
