After announcing the planned closure of some embassies, the State Department issued a worldwide travel alert today due to potential al-Qaida terrorist attacks in August.

The news is all over Twitter, but apparently it’s not a social media priority for the State Department.

A retweet of this tweet is the most recent message to appear on the State Department’s official Twitter account.

Update:

Nothing from @StateDept yet, but there’s now a Facebook post.

@StateDept is still sticking to priorities.
