The streets of Tehran are reportedly packed with crowds after the announcement of Hasan Rowhani’s victory in the Iranian presidential election.

Eyewitnesses report the crowds are chanting “Ahmadi bye bye” as they celebrate the election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s successor.

Update:

A photo of men and women dancing is circulating.

But Iran is still a theocracy with hard-line ruling clerics wielding the power. And despite Rowhani’s efforts to style himself as a reformer, the new boss has the Supreme Leader’s blessing and is likely to be more or less the same as the old boss.
