The Cheetahs came up on Twitter today because the IRS reportedly backed out of a softball game with Republican critic John Cornyn.
Team Cornyn softball team was scheduled to play the IRS team on Friday, "the Cheetahs." Game has been cancelled… http://t.co/AKvXX5gh66
— Senator John Cornyn (@JohnCornyn) May 16, 2013
From Sen. Cornyn’s Facebook page:
Team Cornyn softball team was scheduled to play the IRS team on Friday, “the Cheetahs.” Game has been cancelled by IRS, without rescheduling.
Hmm. Sneer-quotes or is Cornyn pulling our legs? NBC News and Yahoo! News report the name is real, so we’re going with that because it’s hilariously perfect.
Either way, you know the saying: Cheetahs never win.
