Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas appeared on ESPN’s “First Take” this morning. But instead of focusing exclusively on the 16-year-old gymnast’s incredible accomplishments, Twitter users say host Cari Champion tried to bait Douglas into feeding the media’s beloved racism narrative.
@ESPN_FirstTake What's wrong,Gabby Douglas not go along with your racism narrative?

Douglas, who certainly faced her share of race-based criticism from fellow black women during the Olympic games, didn’t take the bait. When asked she was tempted to quit because of racism, she told Champion it was actually because she was homesick.
@ESPN_FirstTake Child please @CariChampion. Love how you baited Gabby Douglas trying to get her to blame racism but she blamed home sick!
