Much of the Olympics-focused Twitterverse was baffled when actor Sir Kenneth Branagh dressed as Abraham Lincoln during Friday’s opening ceremony.

Some thought he going for an “Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter” look.

And The New York Times found the costume more Dickensian.

So what costume was Branagh wearing as he recited Caliban’s speech from “The Tempest”? He was dressed as nineteenth century engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
