Jonathan Karl of ABC News is pushing a scoop on Twitter this morning that’s not likely to sit well with many grassroots conservatives.
GOP sources tell me Marco Rubio is not being vetted by Romney's VP search team. Details on GMA and here — http://t.co/Fq2n3Hkd

The always reliable “GOP sources” say Team Romney hasn’t asked Sen. Marco Rubio to go through the vice presidential vetting process.
[K]nowledgeable Republican sources tell me that Rubio is not being vetted by Mitt Romney’s vice presidential search team. He has not been asked to complete any questionnaires or been asked to turn over any financial documents typically required of potential vice presidential candidates.
Although it is possible that Rubio may yet be asked to go through the vetting process, it has been nearly two months since Romney named his long-time aide Beth Myers to run his vice presidential search. The fact that Rubio has not been asked to turn over any documents by now is a strong indication that he is not on Romney’s short list of potential running mates.
Conservatives are just starting to react to the news on Twitter.
Rubio repeatedly said he wasn't interesting in vp position. Romney obviously took him at his word

As much as I love Rubio, won't be end of the world if he isn't '12 VP candidate. Definitely bright future ahead 4 him. Maybe POTUS someday!

Rubio isn't being vetted by Team Romney for VP? really? Woud there be a better choice?

Rubio's book reveals he declined to be vetted as Crist's Lt. gov. running mate. Turned out well. Wonder if he made a similar calculation?

We’ll take this one with a grain of salt.
UPDATE:
Thank goodness for grains of salt. This afternoon Romney told reporters that Rubio is being ‘thoroughly vetted’ for the VP role.
