The ratings for the NFL’s opening night contest between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons were down 13 percent from last year’s opening game.
That, added to the fact that there is a general decline in NFL interest due to the player protests via kneeling for the national anthem, led Michelle Malkin to give another meaning to NFL Sunday.

The worst news for the league is that the ratings for the opener were down considerably, despite the fact that the game was very competitive with a dramatic ending.

Unsurprisingly, President Trump took a swipe at the league on opening Sunday, threatening that interest in the NFL will continue to dwindle until all players stand for the anthem.
Wow, NFL first game ratings are way down over an already really bad last year comparison. Viewership declined 13%, the lowest in over a decade. If the players stood proudly for our Flag and Anthem, and it is all shown on broadcast, maybe ratings could come back? Otherwise worse!

We will see what sort of protests take place throughout the weekend and how the ratings compare to week one of the past few seasons.
