ESPN writer Jason Whitlock tweeted a sensible statement about the fatal shooting of Antonio Martin by a police officer in Missouri.
The police are allowed to protect themselves, particularly when a suspect pulls a gun apparently on surveillance video.

He went on.
I'm suspicious of everything and second-guess everything. No reason at all — at this point — to lump Antonio Martin in w/other cases.

Whitlock’s replies did not share in his measured approach.
@WhitlockJason Here is a straw man for you to direct that argument too. You know that's a dog whistle for racists. pic.twitter.com/kOcqMY4cKz

@WhitlockJason "Apparently" being the key word… If no gun, bet that video gets "lost"!

@WhitlockJason Nah Jason! The white cops were after him! It's a setup just to kill black kids!

@WhitlockJason police are afraid of young Black males & vice versa. And cops can't seem to access a threat. This is just getting started.

@WhitlockJason They are allowed to protect themselves, but shooting first is not protecting yourself.

To which, Whitlock replied:
@ShaunKing This isn't even worthy of reply. It's mindbogglingly stupid.
