Just to update you on this story we told you about yesterday from NBC News that said Twitter is getting ready to “remove the engagement counts showing the number of retweets or ‘likes’ a tweet receives”. . .
Twitter removing Retweet and Like counts. They’ve officially realized the people they don’t like are getting all the traction and that mainstream media bought too many accounts.
Bad move, @jack. Retweets and Likes generally are ‘friendly.’

. . .apparently it was FAKE NEWS and NBC News has since issued a correction:
And just like that, it’s over. Twitter isn’t considering getting rid of retweet and like numbers on Tweets. Carry on. pic.twitter.com/epvQideQXR

This, however, still seems dumb to us. Especially since Twitter itself was promoting RTs and Likes after yesterday’s Facebook/Instagram outage:

And here they are promoting the story of the donut shop owner who went viral after his son posted a sad message to Twitter. Would this have even happened with hidden RTs and Likes?

That post went mega-viral. Why would Twitter want to slow this down?
